NASA INVENTION MERGED WITH LIME
The Inception of Super Insulator TermoRasante Aerogel MGN
Hello from Core Conservation, welcome to our aerogel only website. In the last 12 years we won 10 industry awards 4 of which are aerogel related achievements. Aerogel was initially developed by NASA to help Mars Rovers stand extraordinary temperature fluctuations.
Here is NASA’s recommendation on Aerogel as a thermal insulator, building material
An insulation solution for UK home owners that ticks all the boxes
The Aerogel lime thermal insulation solves these common problems
You wish to keep the historic charm

How Aerogel insulation solves all typical problems
Based on experience, even a 4-10 mm coat can noticeably increase wall surface temperatures. Suitable for all building types, including uneven thick stone walls, single-skin brick walls, timber frame infill panels, window reveals and cold bridges.
A thin coat delivers an exceptional insulation
Effectively combats condensation and mould
Enhances thermal comfort, reflecting heat indoors and blocking the cold

Building Control approval on thermal insulation
It is important to note that Building Regulations express a wall’s thermal insulation in terms of its U-value — the lower the U-value, the better the insulation. In our experience, an uninsulated stone or brick wall in an old or heritage building typically has a U-value of around 2.00.
Using our insulation systems, which also incorporate other members of the AeroGel Insulation family, current retrofit insulation standards are routinely achieved with a thickness of just 50-60 mm. The most popular specifications for achieving a U-value of 0.3 with our products are:
- 50 mm Termointonaco + 25 mm TermoRasante Aerogel
- 30 mm Termointonaco + 30 mm TermoRasante Aerogel
- 45 mm TermoRasante Aerogel
